How does the ARTAS® Robotic System Work?

The ARTAS Robotic Procedure is a minimally invasive hair restoration solution, which uses digital imaging and precision robotics to harvest healthy grafts for transplantation.  Dr. Weiss uses the ARTAS® System to perform follicular unit extraction (FUE). Hair grafts are taken from the back and sides of the scalp until an adequate has been harvested for transplant to the balding area. Unlike earlier methods of hair restoration, cutting a strip of tissue from the back and sides of the head is not required.  There is no linear scar from the ARTAS procedure and no need for stitches or staples to close the wound. The benefits are a quick recovery, less discomfort, and the ability to return to regular activities and work sooner.

What is recovery from ARTAS® Hair Restoration like?

Recovery from the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant is shorter than most other cosmetic procedures. There are no lengthy incisions or stitches required with the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant.  Healing time is short, and you can go back to your daily activities after a day or two.  Dr. Weiss finds that most patients prefer to take the rest of the week off and return to work on Monday.

How will my hair look after the ARTAS Robotic Hair Transplant?

Dr. Weiss prefers The ARTAS Robotic system for Hair Transplant surgery because it helps him provide incredibly natural looking results. Men with hair loss choose Dr. Weiss because of his aesthetic skill as a facial plastic surgeon.  After the procedure, you can wear your hair at any length and style with confidence.

Should I cut my hair before treatment for hair loss?

Yes. Trimming your hair allows the ARTAS Robotic System to accurately visualize, track, and harvest each grouping of hairs. You will receive instructions on cutting your hair shorter in preparation for your ARTAS procedure at our office in Metairie, Louisiana.
